Service providers

Contractors are used a lot at the Port of Rotterdam. This often involves the construction, maintenance, dismantling or demolition of (business) sites, infrastructure, installations, etc. Contractors are used more often because of the increasingly strict environmental requirements and the Port of Rotterdam being in the middle of an energy transition. But contractors also have the right expertise for transporting ships to be completed elsewhere, drilling platforms, wind turbines and other heavy equipment. 

Maritime service providers such as agents and shipbrokers take care of bunkering (providing fuel for ships), construction, ship maintenance and repairs, carrying out inspections and provisioning ships. Then there are the tug services, pilots and boatmen, who are experts in mooring, unmooring and shifting ships.
