Maritime

Shipping is the heart of the maritime sector and involves the transport and movement of goods, people and animals by water. It can be divided into maritime transport, inland navigation and fishing. A distinction is also made between commercial and pleasure craft. All these different types of shipping can be found in the Port of Rotterdam.

The shipping runs like clockwork thanks to the good collaboration between the Port Coordination Centre and nautical service providers such as pilots, boatmen and tugboats. Together, they ensure the safe and efficient handling of shipping during a port call at the Port of Rotterdam.

The port is also home to maritime service providers. They provide maintenance and development of the maritime industry and infrastructure.
