A stacker turner assists in securing containers on short- and deep-sea vessels. The stacker turner works close to the ship on the quay or on a platform on the crane. When unloading or loading containers from ships, twistlocks (stackers) must be inserted or removed from the corners of the containers. The twistlocks ensure that stacked containers on deck do not separate from each other when the ship encounters a storm at sea.
