Master Shipping & Transport full-time
Ready to take the helm in the world of maritime trade? After completing the Master’s in Shipping and Transport, the sector will hold no secrets for you!
Whether you have a background in shipping, logistics, or business administration, and wish to apply your knowledge in the maritime sector, the Master’s in Shipping and Transport offers a valuable deep dive. You will learn the ins and outs of international ports and shipping companies, and acquire insights into all possible logistical considerations. Additionally, you will develop your management skills, preparing you for a promising career both domestically and internationally.
Seeing Connections
The Master’s in Shipping and Transport provides you with a comprehensive overview of the sector. You will unravel how manufacturers and consumers connect through ports and shipping lines and understand the factors involved. By recognizing these connections, you will learn to make smart decisions. For example, how do you ensure transportation that is both cost-effective and sustainable? How do you select a ship for a particular voyage? And how do you keep a port attractive to international trade? During this master’s program, critical thinking and innovative problem-solving will become second nature. The Rotterdam “hands-on and make-things-happen” approach we impart is highly sought after in ports worldwide!
Personal Development
Throughout the year, you will not only deepen your knowledge of the maritime and logistics world but also of yourself. What kind of manager are you? Do you focus on sustainability, personnel, or something else? Which topics and subfields interest you the most? And where can you make the greatest impact with your unique talents? Alongside analytical skills, you will develop presentation and communication skills. All instruction is in English, as it is the language of the program.
Practical Research
The program includes lectures, practical classes, and hands-on research. As this is a professional master’s program, the results of your research are directly linked to real-world practice, allowing you to see immediately if your ideas are effective. During your thesis, you will work on solving a problem in the maritime sector, commissioned by a company or through one of the university’s knowledge centers, such as the Sustainable Port City knowledge center.
Full-time or Part-time?
Note: You can choose to complete this master’s program either full-time or part-time. If you opt for the part-time variant, you will finish the program in 2 years instead of 1. The curriculum accommodates periods of extended absence, so you can continue working in the shipping industry during your studies. This program is conducted entirely in English.
