Coxswain
A mate on a ship is responsible for navigating and steering the vessel. They ensure that the ship follows its course safely and efficiently, use navigation instruments to determine the ship’s position, and adjust the course as needed. They also often assist with loading and unloading, maintaining the ship, and checking its seaworthiness.
