Civil Engineering part-time
In Civil Engineering, 3D design techniques are increasingly used, with the Building Information Model (BIM) at the core. BIM is now a central theme in the part-time program.
In general, Civil Engineering focuses on constructing structures in both dry and wet infrastructure, earthworks, utility construction, and underground building. Examples include bridges, locks, roads, aqueducts, and construction pits.
After completing the part-time program, you will have sufficient insight, knowledge, and skills to advance in the construction industry with a strong foundation in applying and implementing 3D techniques within companies, including their impact on business processes.
The part-time program is often pursued by individuals ready for the next step in their careers, who are in operational roles and wish to advance to positions such as leadership, technical-commercial roles, management, or design functions. A higher professional education is often required for this progression. Work experience in the construction or civil engineering field is necessary to start the program.
Balancing work, study, and personal life is generally a challenging task. It requires perseverance and good planning. At Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, the part-time Civil Engineering program is divided into two clear periods of two years each, culminating in a full diploma:
The part-time Associate Degree (Ad) in Integrated Construction Management (Years 1 and 2)
The part-time Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Years 3 and 4)
