Captain
A ship's captain has overall responsibility for the safety, efficiency, and optimal operation of the vessel. They lead the crew, plan routes, supervise loading and unloading, maintain the ship, and oversee communication and navigation. Safety procedures and compliance with legal requirements also fall under their purview.
