Architecture is a broad field, offering many interesting professions. Traditionally, the degree in Architecture prepares you for careers in architectural firms and construction companies, which involve preparing and executing projects. There are a wide variety of projects: housing, offices, schools, and shopping centers.
In addition, you can work with project developers, structural engineers, building physics consultants (climate, acoustics, and sustainability); but also positions in numerous other consulting firms (cost, organization, project management) and various roles in housing corporations that manage large amounts of property and encounter many challenging urban renewal issues.
All these professions share the common requirement of a solid architectural foundation. You should be able to create and understand technical drawings, know about structures, building systems and materials, have knowledge of building physics, and possess the ability to organize, conduct research, collaborate and lead. You should also be aware of current events and understand the role you could play as an architectural expert.
Architectural specialists are mainly practical people. They have spatial awareness and technical skills, can analyze and solve a problem, and approach questions from different viewpoints.
